This song was a bit of a theory exercise. It's divided into three movements, and each is based off E and C chords of differing values.
Lyrically, this song was written about the affects of alcohol. I wrote it shortly after I turned 21, so it was a new experience then. The second movement lends itself well to the lyrical theme because the Emaj7 -> Cmaj7 progression doesn't offer a lot of harmonic stability. The V7 -> IV turnaround gives a little stability, but the extra half measure throws it off, and the added noise tracks add to the murky, muddled mindset that comes after a few drinks.
lyrics
Over my lips and straight through my teeth
They go straight to my head
Over my lips and straight through my teeth
They go straight to my head
They go straight to my head
Don't you leave me alone
Straight to my head and they leave me for dead
Don't you leave me alone
Don't you leave me alone
