Ali Cravens sent me a few poems and asked me to incorporate them as lyrics. I was happy to do so! It was my first collaboration with a different lyricist.
This was the first track I started recording for this album, and I almost cut it because it never felt "right." The vocal harmony "bed" and reverse guitars are what saved this recording.
The instrumental outro of this song is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever arranged (I think).
lyrics
You fall in love
Like rain falls to the ground
Expected and frequent
But only briefly endowed
Love like a hurricane
Except for a hand
It belongs to you
You call yourself a man
You take what you can
From every girl on which your raindrops land
Regret is incurable pain
And our hearts can't help but absorb the rain
Love like a hurricane
Except for a hand
It belongs to you
You call yourself a man
