about

This song is about wanting a stable living situation, which I didn't have in college and it even took awhile to realize when I moved into my own apartment. Also, I really want a yard.

lyrics

You won't be the one to spill my drink
You just need to drive me home
I shouldn't even be allowed to think
Won't you stay with me 'till I'm asleep
And spare me moments alone?

What conscience is there but a clear soul
To lay your head on at night?
The luxury is not one that I hold
Have you never had to win sleep in a fight,
Or do you awake to new light?

We can't grow down, it's too late now

Your life is never moved in or unpacked
There's no place you can call your own
All your life ahead with time spent looking back
Though it's just a shelter of wood and stone
Someday you'll come home to home

And could it be that all I really need
Is a yard to call my own?
To work and to tend in summer's stubborn heat
A place to sweat and work my fingers to bone
Honest, hard work with results to show

We can't grow down, it's too late now
